ESOC Overview

The first European Symposium on Organic Chemistry (ESOC 1) was held in 1979 in Cologne, Germany, and offered an outstanding line-up of speakers with a strong European theme in contemporary organic chemistry. The success of this meeting, under the Chairmanship of E. Vogel, has led the Symposium to numerous other European venues, at which the series has gone from strength to strength.

Held biennially, the Symposia consist of Plenary and Invited lecturers together with Oral and Poster contributions, attracting up to 550 contributions and 900 delegates. The meetings are successful because they provide a vibrant scientific and social gathering at locations that are chosen to fully represent the diversity of Europe.
